Welcome to MOTHER’S NEST.

A women’s circle for you and your baby. A safe place for mothers to connect with others who are exactly in the same page as you and create an opportunity for “village building”.

In traditional cultures, the “village” plays a key role on a new family’s life. The mother is cared for through practical and emotional support from close relatives, who are around during weeks or months after she gives birth. She has time and space to heal her body, connect with her baby, learn how to breastfeed, learn how to care for her child and get acquainted with her new self. Unfortunately in our modern society, new mothers are going through this huge transition alone and with a belief that she should know what to do, which results in her feeling lonely, isolated, frustrated, overwhelmed. Newborn mothers are not only adjusting to motherhood, they are doing it sleep deprived and fatigued; this time of massive transition can be a vulnerable time as women tend to give all the attention to the newborn baby, in detriment to their own health and well being. This can hugely affect a woman’s self esteem and undermine her bonding with her baby.

By meeting other women who are also crossing this “sacred window of time”, you will feel held, seen, understood, giving you the support and safety that only belonging and connection can do; you may even find a friendship for your entire life.

When women feel safe to share what they are going through, without layering with shame and guilt, we can relax knowing we are making a transition and normalize our experience by understanding that we are not alone in this journey.

The group meets fortnightly for approximately 2 hours. We start with mindfulness exercises and short meditations then move into a facilitated sharing circle, where each one can share feelings, doubts, insights (it’s okay if you don’t want to share anything!). We wrap up with rich discussions about a specific topic brought by a guest speaker and the facilitator.

Together we will weave a precious thread that validates our rites of passage, achieving a deeper sense of self - exactly what women need in times of transition so we can emerge “on the other side” with confidence and grace.

Teas and nourishing snacks provided.
